PRESS RELEASE
Each February an entire month of events are planned nationwide honoring the contributions of Aftican Americans. The theme for 2019 is “Black Migrations” tracking the continuous movement of blacks from the American South to the industrialized North and beyond. To that end, friends of Prarie Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Emory have worked hard planning a very unique, enjoyable and informative celebration in partnership with the Rains High School Theater and Fine Arts department. The Texas College Concert Choir will proudly perform its major concert production, “Why We Sing: The Evolution of Black Sacred Music”. This premiere ensemble will take attendees on a historical musical journey highlighting key contributors to the development of the unique sound of African American Music and will also include a moving tribute to the “Queen of Soul”, Ms. Aretha Franklin.
The 2017–18 School Report Cards (SRC) are now available on the Texas Education Agency’s website at http://tea.texas.gov/perfreport/src/index.html or under Curriculum and Instruction on our District’s main page. The purpose of the SRC is to inform parents and guardians about a campus’s individual characteristics and its academic performance.
For those who would like greater detail about the information in the SRC, the glossary that accompanies the 2017–18 Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) is a useful resource. It contains definitions and methodologies for all the information included in the SRC. The data in the SRC is a subset of that published in the TAPR. The TAPR Glossary is available on the TEA website at https://rptsvr1.tea.texas.gov/perfreport/tapr/2018/glossary.pdf?fbclid=IwAR0V5QixfwXPh-LayBFl0PFDxZ3SoS1PStfIvnYFRZnnP56Kx41Js-TASdk
